About me

Since my early teens I am a passionate aircraft model builder and flyer. Over the years I built a lot of models from kits and magazine plans, this was all long before ARF-models started to appear.

In the early 90’s, I had the opportunity to learn the AutoCad CAD software. This triggered my creativity and I started to design my own models. In 2001, I took the next step and purchased a CNC milling machine. Software for this still worked under MS-DOS and was limited to 2.5D machining, but it served me very well for many years.

In 2011 I bought and started using a 3D-CAD program. This made it possible to create more challenging designs, most of these still only exist in purely digital form I must admit. At the end of 2015 I got myself one more Christmas present in the form of a kit for my next milling machine. This one provides more capabilities than my first one because of highly increased travel in the Z-axis and the ability to use more up-to-date software for 3-axis milling.

For many years my interest has mainly been in classic style aerobatics, so I typically designed the models with that in mind. Construction was mainly balsa and plywood (I love a nicely executed wood construction). Around 2010 I also started getting interested in sailplanes and this more or less automatically directed me towards learning more about composite model construction.

In this blog I intend to share some of my designs, and maybe some other topics. Expect irregular updates and possibly some builds that do not make it to the end.
